Hi Tracy,
Exactly, I know you have these ingredients in your pantry, fridge and freezer. Have the girls make the patties, super easy. Could eat them at room temp...maybe even at the beach this summer :) Let me know how it goes!

Hi Paul,
Thrilled you tried these black bean burgers. The addition of sushi-rice is a good idea. I also have struggled with maintaining the form and having a more burger-like experience. I'll have to try your suggestion and let you know how it goes, thank you for stopping bu!

[...] When my husband and I started our 20-month old on grains around nine or ten months, quinoa was one of the grains of choice. It’s easy to digest, super healthy and easy to hide. At that time, I would grind it into a powder and then cook it before serving it to her. But once she started eating more solid food, I began including it in her daily yogurt (or “agoo,” as she calls it). To see my basic quinoa recipe, click here. [...]

Loved these, have been trying to improve how well they hang together as patties. W/O boring you with all the failures, I have found that adding cooked suhsi-type rice makes for a more manageable patty-like experience. Maybe 2/3 cup (?). From there, I second the whole 'quality bun, pickle, ketchup, mustard, slice of raw, guacamole, cheese, etc...Wide range of approvals from this household.

Sandy, that kale and ricotta salata salad sounds equally delicious! Thanks for the recipe. I bet the toasted pine nuts make it even better. I keep meaning to add some golden raisins for just a little hint of sweet but every time I think to do so, I'm already halfway through my salad. Why mess with perfection??

I've been making a kale salad from Epicurious (originally from Gourmet) for the past few months, quite similar: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Lacinato-Kale-and-Ricotta-Salata-Salad-236940

Funnily, I just started putting toasted pine nuts in it about a month ago!
